Frisk Read-Along: Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
The short version
Frisk does nothing on a page until you click it. When you do, the text of that page's article is sent to our server and to Claude (Anthropic's AI) to pick the key sentences. We don't keep that text, don't build profiles, don't show ads and don't sell anything.
What is sent, and when
- Only after you click the Frisk icon (or press Alt+R) on a page. Pages you don't click on are never read or sent.
- The article text of that page, in pieces, as you scroll to them. Not menus, ads, reference lists or form fields on the page.
- If you use "Ask about this page": the question you type in Frisk's box, together with that page's article text. Nothing else you type anywhere is read.
- If you ask out loud (the 🎤 button): Chrome's built-in speech recognition turns your voice into text. That audio is handled by Google under Chrome's privacy policy, never by Frisk's server; Frisk only receives the text of your question, as above. The microphone is only on while the button is red.
- When the side panel opens on an article, a summary of it is made the same way as the highlights.
- A random install number generated by the extension. It isn't linked to your name, email or Google account. It only lets us cap how much one install can use per day.
- Your IP address, which every web request carries. We use it for the same daily cap.
What happens to it
- The article text goes to Anthropic's Claude API to choose highlights and write the short notes, and with your question to answer it. Anthropic processes API data under its commercial terms and privacy policy. API data is not used to train their models.
- Our server doesn't save the article text, your questions, answers, highlights or notes. It passes them through and forgets them.
- To enforce the daily limits, we keep a counter of requests per install number and per IP address for two days, then it's deleted automatically.
What stays on your computer
The random install number, stored by Chrome. Read-aloud uses your computer's built-in voices, so nothing you hear is sent anywhere.
What we never do
No accounts, no tracking across sites, no analytics, no ads, no selling or sharing data with anyone besides Anthropic as described above.
Removing it
Uninstalling Frisk deletes the install number. Our two-day counters then expire on their own.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Questions: use the support tab on Frisk's Chrome Web Store page.
